Equipment used:
- Canon 5D Mark II (Buy from Amazon)
- NOTE: This model has been superceded by the 5D Mark III. The purchase links point to that model.
- Canon 24mm f3.5L II TSE (Buy from Amazon)
- Really Right Stuff TVC33 Tripod + BH-55LR Ball Head (Buy from Really Right Stuff)
- Vello Shutterboss Wireless Release (Buy from B&H Photo)
- IMPORTANT NOTE: The internals for this shutter release are used by a number of different companies. It's quirky and not too sturdy (I'm on my third one), but it's the best I've used so far. You can probably find the same thing cheaper on ebay or Amazon, but I strongly recommend buying the Vello-branded model from B&H because of B&H's no-hassle 1 year warranty. Dealing with B&H is always a snap and the same may not be true of Generic Hong Kong Camera Accessories Internet Company Incorporated on ebay.
- Upstrap Pro SLR Quick-Release Strap w/Kevlar ends (Buy from Upstrap)
- Comfort and utility very subjective things. I find this particular strap to be both comfortable an useful. I prefer shoulder straps to neck straps and like a quick release system so I don't have a strap dangling off my camera when I'm on a tripod or in the studio. The rubber shoulder pad is very grippy and I haven't had any problems with the camera slipping.
- Gitzo Tripod Strap (Buy from Amazon)
- I've tried a lot of different tripod straps and bags, and they've all been terrible. This one is the least-terrible I've used so far. If it sounds like I'm damning it with faint praise, I am. This strap isn't terribly comfortable when used as intended, but if I wear it cross-back with the tripod head resting at the lower left (i.e. upside down from Gitzo's intended position) and the incredibly painful shoulder pad shoved all the way down, it's acceptable. The position of the tripod will have to be adjusted regularly for comfort, and after four hours a day, six days a week, my shoulder is still pretty sore...but like I said, this is the least-terrible strap I've used.
