FLIPSIDE 19:

Unfortunately we got to the Fleetwood a bit late and the Disposals were on (I think it was them) the new girl wouldn't let us in, and we finally sat outside thru the Disposals before finally getting in. I will say that both bands sounded really good (ie: fast punk sound) and I wish I would have seen them. But Agent Orange has just gone on and they sound even better. They have a new bass player and a new sound, monstrous. Most bands don't sound too good through that PA, but Agent Orange was an exception. They look good too, especiall Mike with his arrow guitar, it looks good, like when he throws it around and slashes thru the air. They played one of my all time favorite tunes 'Bloodstains' and a few songs later ended with a great version of 'Pipeline.' Fantastic. And as if that wasn't enough...there was still Red Cross. But first a word from the Skrews. I haven't seem them since the King's Palace daze, and they have certainly improved, much more relaxed and active on stage. They sound got kinda muddy and the songs tended to run together into a buzz, but they were definitely on the right track.

Red Cross. Finally. I've waited along time for these guys to reform, and they did. They replaced Greg with TWO guitars not just one (says a lot for Greg), and got a new drummer of course, but Jeff and Steve are still the nucleus. The set was short of a disaster. They played about eight songs, none over one minute, but were on stage for half an hour. Problems. I guess two guitars are hard to coordinate, they probably hand't practiced much. BUT it was still a great feeling to hear the Siren cuts live again, opening with 'Clorox Girls' and closing with 'Standing in front of Poseur' it was all over and back to the garage for Red Cross.

Black Flag were next. It was a long wait because Ron wasn't there, then when he showed up, he only sang one song and refused to sing if people fought, so he left. Snickers came up and sang 'Louie Louie' then Ron came back only to quit the band for good. Black Flag had a public audition.
