First of all I'd like to say fuck you to the Duffy's staff and management. The bar itself was being renovated; the walls were torn up, the seats near the stage were gone, and there was this 3 level platform on the dance floor that gnarled the hell out of my shins. Once inside the bar you couldn't go back out, and the bouncers all seemed to have PMS. Well, what should you expect from an ass backwards redneck bar whose most popular event is jello wrestling. Anyway, Nig-Heist came first. Their satirical HM music sucks, and their sexist stage show wasn't as funny as they thought. The highlight was when Mugger grabbed this little black skinhead and thrust him into his scrotal area, but haven't we seen it all before. I expected a lot from the Meat Puppets since Puppets II came out. They had a lot of problems with the PA (which is another thing Duffy's fucked up on), and they just weren't that great live. Their twangy country rock was played well, but just didn't grab me. Black Flag opened with one of the longest and most boring instrumentals I've ever heard. When Henry came out things got more exciting, oh gosh, look at the psychotic front man. They dragged their grinding metallic songs out way too long, they did have their moments on a few. Jealous Again was genuinely intense, mostly their set was monotonous. | ||||||||||
