NEGATIVE APPROACH were interviewed outside of the Coronation Tavern in Windsor by TV, DS, Corey and Todd... Interview from Touch and Go 16. Second photo from Touch and Go 17.

TV: Where'd you get your inspiration in Detroit to play the kinda stufff you play anyway?
John: Inspiration? In Detroit?...fuck...
Corey: You must have got it somewhere cuz there's no other bands like you around here...
Rob: NECROS.
TV: Oh yeah, tell me what your names are otherwise I'll have a helluva time transcribing this thing...
Rob: guitar, 18
John: vocals, 18
Lance: drums, 18
Pete: bass, 17
TV: Have you played out at all?
John: Our first gig was in Todd's basement...this gig coming up will be our second (BOOKIES gig w/Negative Approach/ Meatmen/Necros on Sept 30th, ED)
TV: Song titles?
John: "Sick Of Talk"..."Fashionable Idiots"
Rob: "Pressure"
TV: So that Bookies thing is all set for you guys?
John: I guess...
Todd: We can get anyone we want to play...
TV: What about this Meatmen thing?
Corey: Gawd, I saw em tonight. You wouldn't a believed it. Man, they got this really tall gay guy on vocals (laughter, ha ha hee, hee ALL). He was talking about like "Tooling For Anus." In Detroit he wanted my ass. I almost beat him up. What a queer... (some people got no respect, ED)
Todd: They did this thing in one song where the guitar player sticks his guitar up the singers ass...
All: What a bunch of queers... (Laughter)
John: We don't think there's any other bands like us in Detroit. Like here everyone looks up to the Romantics as heros you know....
Corey: How are you different from YOUTH PATROL?
Rob: Our songs are alot longer...
Pete: There's not as much power really to Youth Patrol...
John: Youth Patrol's just kinda there but we're more raw...
Rob: The singer's more controlled...
TV: So I take it you don't like that band?
Pete: Their the worst...I hate em (laffs).
John: No we're all good friends and shit.
All: He's their guitar player...
TV: You're in both bands?
Corey: Ya and he hates Youth Patrol HA HA...
TV: No wonder you were making all these caustic comments...What magazines do you read?
All: Creem, Action Now, Hit Parader, Circus. (somewhat sarcastic young whipsersnappers aren't they now?)
Corey: Teen Beat, Sixteen...
TV: What about Iron Horse?
Pete: My brother's got a band called Iron Horse..(yuks)
Rob: The Joys Of Anal Sex, Blueboy.
TV: You realize you guys are outnumbered playing good music like this in Detroit don't you?
John: There's no other bands like us around here...
Todd: What's your stand on drugs and stuff?
John: None of us use drugs...I drink a beer once in awhile...our drummer's a mixed drink man...
TV: Todd how often do you beat off?
Todd: Twice...both times on Wednesday...
Corey : God, I get more than that a day. (loud) BELCH...
John: The only cool kids in Detroit are skateboarders like Youth Patrol...except for Pete.
TV: Do you get shit when you go to the skatepark?
Rob: Fuck no, they're all about this big...there's quite a few arguments and fights and shit.
Todd: They spraypainted in the pool...
Corey: Yeah, "Punk sucks my dick."
John: They skate after hours and the boss has given us permission to beat them up...
Corey: No shit? We gotta come skatin' with you after hours. That'd be fun to beat up a bunch of kids sneaking in... Here comes some cops
Cop: How come you fellows aren't in the bar?
Corey : We're interviewing a band...
Cop: Interviewing a band in the parking lot? Where's the beer?
All: No beer...
Cop: Go back in the bar...
(needless to say, this about wrapped up the interview)
