NEW RELEASE
T H E N E U R O T I C S
'K I C K S T A R T I N G A B A C K F I R I N G N A T I O N'
THE NEUROTICS release their third album this week, 'KICKSTARTING A BACKFIRING NATION'. It was recorded live in Wapping (in the early days of the Murdoch dispute) and also features guest appearances from the event by Attila The Stockbroker, Pete Campbell, The Big J and Porky The Poet.
The Neurotics started out with singles on their own and the renowned CNT labels, followed by two albums 'Beggars Can Be Choosers' (Razor) and 'Repercussions' (Jungle), both gaining much attention from various quarters.
They've constantly put themselves out to play benefits for various causes close to their hearts, particularly for the miners, the GLC and Red Wedge. As well as gigging around the country in their own right, they've often played with the likes of The Redskins, Billy Bragg and other luminaries of similar ilks.
In recent weeks they have appeared on the Channel 4 'People To People' documentary on the unemployed; invested their entire savings to finance getting themselves, their van and equipment to tour East Germany (along with fellow-travellers Bragg & Attila); and teamed up with Billy Bragg to record a song together for a forthcoming Anti-Apartheid benefit record (on a Drewett composition, 'Africa').
The single taken from this album 'Living With Unemployment' was Single Of The Week recently in NME, and this week the album has a five-star review in Sounds; continuing the tradition of press appreciation of the Neurotics...
The band are scheduled to play two outdoor festival in the near future:
The album is also being released as a double-play cassette together with their last studio album 'Repercussions' (& more). The album comes with an insert detailing the Neurotics' lyrics.
