ALLEY CATS

This band's popularity has increased greatly since the 1st time I saw them last summer. They project their excitement on the audience, while playing one loud powerful song after another. Diane plays her bass with a discreet touch, as guitarist Randy is well-set & devoted. Drummer John seems somewhat unsure, yet is actually a conspicuously fine drummer.

The Alleycats greatest asset is their distinctive, shrill vocals & their original material. Songs such as, "King of the Street Fights", "Angel Dust", "One More Chance to Survive" & "Nothing Means Nothing Anymore" should be new wave standards. Other songs included were: "Too Much Junk", "Give Me a Little Pain", "Licorice Cats", & two great covers of "Jail-house Rock" and Eddie Cochrane's "Summertime Blues".

Probably the next time I see the Alley Cats they'll be more popular, but then doesn't everyone go to see good bands?

NOTHING MEANS NOTHING ANYMORE/GIVE ME A LITTLE PAIN--The AlleyCats (Dangerhouse LOM-22A)

You guessed it, the Alley Cats. This band has gained alot of confidence and it is justly shown on this premier single. "Nothing means nothing anymore" will never be one of those songs that sounds like it needs Exlax or something because it's nothin short than a great song, as you speed thru the lyrics and the fine musicianship shared by all members of the band. "Give me a little pain" is fast--fast, provoking, and Randy's vocals just wanna make you jump up and strangle someone. The Basic motive of this band is to keep you going. Whether it's live or on record dosen't matter either because no matter what you do, you can't stay still. Great record, nice sleeve, buy it!
