Effigies / Silent Language / Big Black, July 3, 1983 at Exit. This was the premiere of Big Black's "Crack" video. Silent Language was a band formed by Lorna Donley (ex-Da) that didn't last too long... Philip Galanter has this to say about Silent Language: It was a 3 piece with me (guitar), Lorna Donley (bass, vocals), and Jed Fox (drums). For a brief while we also had Geri Soriano (vocals, guitar, keyboards) as a fourth. Lorna was best known for her previous band DA! Gerri went on to do a number of things, and is currently the vocal lead for Supreme Beings of Leisure. I still do what I do. And Jed...well where is Jed anyway? Silent Language only existed for about 2 years, and was only public for about 1. We cancelled as many shows as we played. The one above in the poster we cancelled out of at the last minute. We were all a bit past neurotic, and Silent Language was ultimately a (I think) great and (certainly) doomed band. Too bad we didn't get into the studio before we totally self-destructed. |
