12" promotional EP released in 1986 on Homestead (HMS060)
|
This is good stuff, both sides of the Il Duce 7" plus three live tracks from the 7th St. Entry gig that gave us Cables on Atomizer. Cables and Pigeon Kill also appear on the Sound of Impact.
This record was released in 1986, after much pleading by Homestead for something to throw at the radio stations. Albini agreed to the release, but with the understanding that it was PROMO ONLY and not to be sold under any circumstances. Once Homestead had the 500 records (plus twenty or so test presses), and satisifed the radio station demand for it, they quietly began selling copies outside the Chicago area, in hopes that the band wouldn't find out. They did (of course), and promptly left Homestead for Touch and Go.
The record doesn't have a picture sleeve, just a die-cut white jacket. The test presses were distributed with a press sheet in which Albini basically says "gee, you must be real important to have a test pressing". I used to have a nice scan of the sheet, but it's long gone now, anyone with a copy they want to scan in (or sell!), email me.
